A WhatsApp chatbot that answers for you. And stops when you step in.
Pingly’s AI chatbot replies on WhatsApp and your website chat from the information you give it, in the language your customer writes in. When someone on your team takes over, it goes quiet — and stays quiet until you hand the chat back.
On the Pro and Business plans. No credit card for the trial.
What the bot actually does
It answers from what you add, and Pingly adds these rules to your own instructions for every reply.
Answers from your own information
Give it pages from your website, a PDF or text file, or paste in your FAQs, price list and policies. When there is a lot of material, it picks the passages that match the question.
Replies in the customer’s language
It answers in the language and script the customer writes in — Hindi or Gujarati typed in English letters gets a reply in English letters. One language per reply, never a mix of two. If it cannot write the language well, it replies briefly in simple English rather than guess.
Short, plain replies
One to three sentences, plain text, at most one question at a time, and no second greeting halfway through a chat. It answers at any hour — or, if you set business hours and holidays, sends your closed-hours message instead.
Waits for the whole thought
On WhatsApp, customers often send three short messages in a row. The bot waits four seconds after the last one and replies once, with all of them in view.
When a person takes over, the bot stops
A bot that keeps replying while your salesperson is negotiating does real damage, so the rules are explicit:
| When | What the bot does |
|---|---|
| An agent presses Take over | Silent until someone presses Hand to AI, or the conversation is resolved. No timer ends it. |
| Someone replies from the WhatsApp app on the phone | The same hold, on a number connected by QR code — nobody has to remember a button. |
| An agent replies from the Pingly inbox without taking over | The bot pauses. If the customer writes again and nobody answers within the idle time you set (5 to 120 minutes, 30 by default), the bot picks it up. |
| The customer asks for a person | Words you choose, such as “human” or “agent”, make the bot say it is connecting them and alert your team. If nobody replies within your chosen wait (1 to 15 minutes), it sends your “all agents are busy” message. |
It also stays silent for keyboard-mashing, the same message sent three times running, and a stray “ok” or thumbs-up mid-chat, which would only spend your AI credit. A “Hi” that opens a conversation is answered, and so is a short “yes” to a question the bot just asked.
Keyword flows first, AI for everything else
Some answers should be word-for-word the same every time. A flow starts when a message contains, matches or starts with a keyword, or on a contact’s first message, and it runs before the AI is asked anything.
A flow can send a message, ask a question and remember the answer, offer a short menu of choices, branch on what the customer said, tag the contact, assign an agent, open a lead or a ticket, send your booking link, or pass the conversation to the AI part-way through. Message and menu steps do not call your AI provider at all. Anything no flow catches goes to the AI.
WhatsApp bot examples by industry
Illustrations of what a business can set up — not customer stories.
Clinics
Paste in timings, doctors and fees. Add each consultation type as a bookable service, and the bot offers the open slots for the day asked about and books only the one the patient confirms.
WhatsApp for clinicsShops
Upload your price list or catalogue as a PDF and the bot answers from it. It knows only what you give it, so replace the file when prices or stock change.
WhatsApp for online storesCoaching institutes
Add courses, fees and batch timings as text. A parent writing in Hindi with English letters is answered the same way, and a clear enquiry becomes a lead naming the course they want.
WhatsApp for coachingReal estate
Upload project brochures and make “site visit” a bookable service. The enquiry becomes a lead, and a stated budget marks it high priority.
WhatsApp for real estateRestaurants
Paste in your menu, hours and parking details. Set up your sittings as bookable slots, and the bot offers what is open or sends your booking page link.
WhatsApp for restaurantsIt opens the sales lead for you
As the conversation goes on, the bot reads both its opening and its latest messages and decides what it is. A confident sales enquiry becomes a lead in your pipeline, with the requirement, budget and email if the customer gave them. A complaint becomes a support ticket. A job enquiry becomes a ticket too, never a sales lead, and someone pitching their own services to you is filed as nothing at all.
Once a person moves the lead forward, the bot stops editing it. This analysis runs on the Anthropic or OpenAI key saved in your bot settings.
Your AI key, your choice of model
Pingly connects to eight AI providers: Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT), Google Gemini, DeepSeek, Groq, OpenRouter, Mistral and xAI (Grok). You paste your own API key, so you pay the provider directly at their rates with no AI markup from Pingly, and you choose which model answers your customers.
Add keys from more than one provider in order of preference. If one runs out of credit, hits a rate limit or stops responding, the next one answers.
Is there a free WhatsApp chatbot?
Pingly’s chatbot is part of the Pro and Business plans. The AI itself can cost nothing: Google Gemini, Groq, Mistral and OpenRouter each offer a free tier, with their own limits. Some providers may use free-tier data for training, and Pingly says which when you add a key.
An AI agent is a persona — its own instructions, documents, hand-off words and replies — assigned to particular numbers or chat widgets. It is how one workspace answers for two brands without mixing them up.
Where it answers
On a WhatsApp number connected by QR code, on numbers running through the Meta Cloud API or Gupshup, and in the chat widget on your website. Each number and each widget can have the AI switched on or off on its own, so a personal line can stay human while the enquiry line is answered.
