WhatsApp Business API pricing, explained

Almost everyone comparing WhatsApp platforms is surprised by the same thing: there are two separate bills, and most pricing pages only show you one of them.

1. Meta bills you per message

Since 1 July 2025 Meta charges per message delivered, not per 24-hour conversation — the older conversation-based pricing is retired. Only template messages are charged. Messages your customers send you are free, and so are the ordinary replies you send back inside the 24-hour window their message opens. The rate depends on the template’s category — marketing, utility or authentication — and on the country the customer is in, so an Indian recipient and a UK recipient cost different amounts.

Meta is changing what falls inside that free window, and adding a monthly allowance for replies, from 1 October 2026. We have written up exactly what changes.

Meta publishes the full rate card and updates it periodically. We deliberately do not reproduce those numbers here, because a stale price on this page would be worse than no price at all — read the current rates from Meta.

2. Your platform bills a subscription

This is the part you see advertised. It buys the software around the API — the shared inbox, the CRM, campaigns, automation, reporting. Pingly starts at ₹999 a month and the plans are above.

The two questions worth asking anyone

Who bills you for the conversations?
Some platforms resell Meta’s messaging and add a margin, so the conversation cost reaches you marked up and bundled. With Pingly you connect your own Meta Cloud API account, so Meta bills you directly at their published rate and we never sit in the middle of it. You can verify the charge against Meta’s own invoice.
Are extra agents charged per seat?
A per-seat model is cheap for one person and expensive for a team of ten, which is usually where the real cost difference shows up. Pingly includes users in the plan: 2 on Starter, 10 on Pro, 30 on Business. Adding a colleague does not change the bill.

A worked example

A team of six running customer support and a monthly campaign pays ₹2,999 for Pingly Pro, plus whatever Meta charges for the conversations that month, billed by Meta. On a per-seat platform the same six people would be six seats before a single message was sent. Nothing here is a discount on Meta’s side — their rate is their rate. The difference is whether anyone adds to it.

Every Pingly figure on this page comes from our live plan table and is billed in INR with a GST invoice. Meta’s conversation rates are Meta’s and change from time to time — always check their rate card for the current numbers. Start a free trial or see how this compares.
